Valentine’s Day Printable Cards – FREEBIE

Our small group had a special Sunday this week at church. We have been trying to add in projects and events that model showing love and serving others to our little ones. With toddlers, this isn’t always easy!

1. First, we invited the kids! My sneaky pete does NOT sit still. 🙂

2. We brought delicious treats from Bear Creek Donuts in Miamisburg.

3. We made Valentine’s Day cards together to take to a local senior center.

We had a great time doing this together. But preparing for this project was a little bit harder. Since we had pre-school agers, we wanted a project that would be easy for little hands to do. I searched the internet for simple valentine’s day cards, however, many of them had a “to” line. Since these are going to seniors that we don’t know, we didn’t want the traditional to and from lines. I wanted something the kids could color with images they could relate to, like animals! And I wanted sayings that were cute, but nothing too lovey dovey, because we wanted the cards to seem authentic. If you received a card from a stranger that said, “I Love You Beary Much” – you might feel awkward or like the effort wasn’t genuine. Okay, okay, maybe I put too much thought into it. So I found some free clipart (the websites said royalty free! Let’s not steal things!) and designed these simple and sweet cards in Canva. I’ve oriented them so you can fold them in half for card printing ease. And you can download them below in PDF form.

Here’s how ours turned out! What do you think?

Pain Perdu. Lost Bread. In France, pain perdu is Pain Perdu. Lost Bread.
In France, pain perdu is a way to use bread that otherwise would have gone stale. Here, at Chez Magee, we’ve made a commitment to buy less food and eat what we have. This morning, I had two slices of stale bread that had been pulled out to make bread crumbs but we didn’t need as many slices as we pulled out; bread that otherwise would have been thrown away. I had a pear. I had ginger beer left over from thanksgiving mocktails and Chardonnay that we made pasta primavera with. Neither of us liked the Chardonnay enough to drink it on its own; another ingredient that would have been tossed.

So I present my delicious Eggnog Pain Perdu with Ginger Chardonnay Pears.

French toast was made with stale bread, soaked in a solution of almond milk egg nog, eggs, and a scoop of vegan protein powder.
Pear cooked in Chardonnay and ginger beer, then removed once tender and the liquid reduced into a syrup.

I’m so thankful for all of the blessings we’ve experienced this year that have helped offset the terribleness that has been 2020.
Daily affirmations for my kids. Let’s be real, Daily affirmations for my kids. Let’s be real, 2020 has been freaking hard. The adults have felt stressed and irritable. My big kid has had to go through so much change ( good and bad), and he only sort of understands what’s going on. The one thing I can do is affirm for him that his place in my heart and life has constancy. Even on hard, sad, or disappointing days. Even on days when I’ve had to apologize for yelling when it wasn’t called for. Even when I can’t say when he’ll get to go back to school or play with friends again. Even when.
Do you have any daily affirmations for yourself or your kids?

The good thing about working from home is that the coffee never sucks 😉 I have a new coffee nook set up that is both visually and deliciously appealing. I love how cute and cozy it looks! What would be in your ideal coffee station?
